Steven A. Rubin

Steve Rubin has guided COPIC’s internal operations since becoming President in early 2001. He plays a key role in developing COPIC’s long-term strategic plan and is responsible for all of the company’s operations. Mr. Rubin also serves on COPIC’s Board of Directors and all of its committees.

Mr. Rubin joined COPIC in 2000 as its Chief Financial Officer. He brought more than 25 years of executive experience to the company that helped guide it through changing market and legislative conditions, while keeping operations aligned with its mission of improving medicine in the communities it serves.

The operational departments that report to Mr. Rubin include Patient Safety and Risk Management, Underwriting and Policyholder Service, Claims, and Finance. He also directs Sales, Human Resources, Legal, and Office Services.

Previously, Mr. Rubin served as President and Chief Executive Officer of FirstCity Financial, and CEO and part owner of MortgagePlus, a Denver-based national mortgage company. In these positions, he was involved with creating new business segments, overseeing operational divisions, and managing the sale of MortgagePlus to a publicly-traded company.

In addition, Mr. Rubin held various executive-level positions at mortgage and financial services companies such as the Resolution Trust Corporation, BankWestern, WestAmerica Mortgage Company, and First Financial Management/Genro Corporation.

Mr. Rubin graduated from Bowling Green University with a bachelor’s degree and then received a master’s degree in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is a member of the Colorado Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.
