Mark Fogg

Mark Fogg joined COPIC in 2011 and assumed the role of General Counsel in 2012. He works with COPIC’s legal defense team to advise and defend insureds, conduct legal education seminars for various groups, and provide oversight and guidance on legal and regulatory requirements for the company.

With more than 32 years as a practicing attorney in Colorado, Mr. Fogg has an extensive background as a defense attorney for health care-related claims including medical liability, medical board matters, anti-competitive claims, hospital-related matters and risk management consulting. During his career, he has served as lead counsel for more than 200 civil and criminal jury trials. Prior to joining COPIC, Mr. Fogg was a shareholder and former President at the Denver law firm of Kennedy Childs & Fogg P.C. In addition, he was a Chief Deputy District Attorney in the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Fogg is the Past President of the Colorado Bar Association (CBA), where he focused on key initiatives such as increased access to legal assistance for mid-income community members and expanded commitment by CBA members in pro bono work, mentoring, and finding work-life balance. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Fogg is the Past President of the Denver Bar Association. He also served as President of the Catholic Lawyers Guild and has sat on the board of the Colorado Judicial Institute.

Mr. Fogg’s expertise and professionalism has been recognized by many organizations. He was named as one of the Denver Business Journal's Best Corporate Counsel in 2013. In 2011, he received the University of Colorado Law Distinguished Alumni Award for private practice. The Denver Bar Association presented him with the Award of Merit in 2010 for extraordinary service to the legal profession and the administration of justice. And he was selected for the Best Lawyers in America (Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Litigation) and Colorado Super Lawyers (Health Care).

Mr. Fogg received a bachelor’s degree in Political Philosophy from James Madison College, Michigan State University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his law degree from the University of Colorado. Mr. Fogg is also active in the local community as he is on the Board of Directors for Escuela de Guadalupe Elementary School and is a volunteer fly fishing guide with Healing Waters, an organization that works with disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through fly fishing activities. Previously, he served on board committees for Regis Jesuit High School.
