South Dakota Humanitarian Award Recipient—Dr. Mark Harlow

Jun 22, 2021

We are proud to announce that Dr. Mark Harlow, Director of the Oyate Health Network and Board President for the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, was chosen as the 2021 recipient of COPIC’s South Dakota Humanitarian Award. Dr. Harlow is recognized for his work with the underserved population as well as his jump to action initiatives throughout the pandemic.

Dr. Harlow was an integral part of keeping his community safe and getting them vaccinated throughout the pandemic. He arranged for the rental of motel rooms, meals to be brought in, and regular health care visits for those who tested positive (most of which were performed by him). Dr. Harlow also set up vaccination clinics for the guests of Cornerstone, the Hope Center, Oyate Health Center, and the homeless of the Rapid City area. For these and many other reasons, COPIC has selected Dr. Harlow as the honoree for the 2021 COPIC South Dakota Humanitarian Award, an annual award that honors a physician for outstanding volunteer medical services and contributions to his or her community.

Dr. Harlow designated the award’s $10,000 donation to Cornerstone Rescue Mission. He was presented the COPIC Humanitarian Award on June 4th at the South Dakota State Medical Association Conference. Congratulations Dr. Harlow!
